CP 2012, for the first time, wishes to showcase multi-disciplinary uses of constraint programming in a special track. This special track will accept papers that focus on cross-cutting methodologies and challenging applications that arise in other scientific or technical domains using constraint programming, broadly construed. The distinguishing characteristic of papers submitted to this track, rather than the applications track, is that the focus should be on solving a specific challenge, or gaining insights, in another scientific/technical domain. Therefore, this track welcomes papers that use constraint programming technology to solve problems in other scientific areas such as (not an exhaustive list):
In addition, papers that solve challenging problems in fields with potential for high social impact are especially welcome. Some example topics, but not an exhaustive list are as follows:
Papers submitted to the multidisciplinary track will be reviewed by a separate program committee with experience in both CP, CP in specific application areas, and domain experts from other scientific and technical fields.
Selected papers submitted to the Multidisciplinary track, which receive excellent reviews from the referees, and which fit the scope of the Artificial Intelligence journal, will be invited to submit a revised paper for fast track review in the AI journal.
The conference proceedings will be published by Springer Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series. Full paper submissions are limited to 15 LNCS pages plus references, while short paper submissions are limited to 8 pages plus references. Short papers will be reviewed to the same standards of quality as full papers, but will naturally contain less quantity of new materials.
For submission instructions please refer to the conference web-site: http://www.cp2012.org/
